Matchup of the Week: Ianediger vs Dorrin314 (Wednesday May 4th, 1700 GMT)

Been a bit since I've done a Matchup of the Week - I completely missed the first round, after all.  Time to get back into the action:

Ianediger of Imperial Entanglements vs Dorrin314 of Hoth Command.  Watch the match itself saved on Youtube!

Ianediger

Ianediger
Points: 397/400

Imperial II-Class Star Destroyer (184 points)
- Grand Moff Tarkin ( 38 points)
- Intel Officer ( 7 points)
- Gunnery Team ( 7 points)
- Quad Laser Turrets ( 5 points)
- Electronic Countermeasures ( 7 points)

Victory I-Class Star Destroyer (90 points)
- Tactical Expert ( 6 points)
- Quad Laser Turrets ( 5 points)
- Slaved Turrets ( 6 points)

Victory I-Class Star Destroyer (90 points)
- Tactical Expert ( 6 points)
- Quad Laser Turrets ( 5 points)
- Slaved Turrets ( 6 points)

3 TIE Interceptor Squadrons ( 33 points)

The Tarkin list for Imperial Entanglements, Ianediger clocks in at 397 points, geared for anti-squadron fighting, and heavy single shot damage.  Tactical Experts on his VSDs means that they can maneuver well around the battlefield, with good long range fire (and blistering short range fire) when they are in position.  The ISD flagship is geared for both anti-squadron and also anti-ship.

With 3 activations and 4 deployments, it is relying on it's big ships to carry most of the weight in a straight up fight.

Dorrin314

Points: 398/400

Assault Frigate MkII B (117 pts.)
Ackbar (38 pts.)
Gunnery Team (7 pts.)

MC 80 Command Cruiser (128 pts.)
Home One (7 pts.)
Engine Techs (8 pts.)
Electronic Countermeasures (7 pts.)

CR 90 Corvette A (51 pts.)
Turbolaser Reroute Circuits (7 pts.)

CR 90 Corvette A (51 pts.)
Turbolaser Reroute Circuits (7 pts.)

CR 90 Corvette A (51 pts.)
Turbolaser Reroute Circuits (7 pts.)

5 activations and 5 deployments, and no squadrons to speak of.  Dorrin's list has a lot of guns between Ackbar, TRCs, and Home One to throw a lot of Red dice, and spin them up to some good damage.  While it has nothing to really stop a dedicated bomber swarm, it isn't up against any bombers, just TIE Interceptors.

The Matchup:

Ianediger has the initiative bid, but Dorrin has both activations and deployments.  He also has the guns for anti-ship, and hasn't wasted any points on anti-squadron.

Keys to the Match

Closing Speed - Ianediger is going to have to figure out a way to maneuver to get his guns on the target.

Initiative - Ianediger's only big advantage is his ability to either go first or second, and determine the objectives played.

Biggs' Pre-Match Bet

Gonna go with Dorrin on this one - I think he has a better gun line, and the activations and deployment will give him the advantage in this one.
